When I was a little girl I have very fond memories of heading down to Fort Vancouver to watch the BIG fireworks. All it was was a giant field with a lot of people and blankets, a lot of vendors, music, and FUN! We would go done in the afternoon have a picnic and play until it got dark. Then we would watch the fireworks, it was always grand show.
With this being said I have yet to find a 4th of July event that even came close to the Fort...that is until yesterday!!! My friend Nichole and I were talking a couple of weeks ago about the 4th and what our plans were. We had none and they said they were going to go done to Wilmington and watch the show. They said they found a great spot last year and were hoping they could find it again this year. So we decided to adventure with them, then we also invited Fred and Audra. So three families, 5 adults and 9 children piled into a blazer and a minivan and headed to Wilmington. We drove right to the field where they were last year. We were the first ones there so we had our pick of spots. We drove our cars right onto the field and parked. We were right on the water and could see the battleship where they lit the fireworks from. We had a perfect view. We spent the afternoon walking the river walk, eating ice cream, grilling hotdogs, eating treats, running, and playing. It was a fabulous afternoon. The kids played hard and had a great time. Then it was time for the fireworks...it was a great show. It was the only time all the kids sat still was for the 30-40 min the fireworks were going on.
The kids loved, the adults loved it and hopefully we can do it again next year. Thanks Nichole for bring us along and making memories.

The end of the night with my sweet, tired baby...what a fabulous day!I am so grateful to live in America, the land of the FREE. I am also so grateful to the men and women who fight for us. Please pray for our Military! They need our prayers.

It looks like you guys had a blast!! Brings back memories of the Fort-which was canceled this year, can you believe it? They didn't have enough sponsors I guess, crazy! Wish you could have been here with us though, we missed you! Give the boys kisses, love you!
