Busy week with Marcus Jr.

Well, Marcus picked up Marcus Jr. last Saturday and they got back to North Carolina early Sunday afternoon. From the moment they walked in the door they have been going a million miles a minute! The boys have spent several days at the beach soaking up the sun and salt water. I was able to join them Thursday and was amazed at how well Marcus Jr. is swimming this year. His confidence in the water has grown so much since last year. The weather has been very nice (hot but bearable). We went to see WALLY together as a family and enjoyed it so much. Leave it to Disney to create another movie that is great for kids and parents alike. It was well worth the money to see it on the big screen. Tuesday we took Marcus to the family pool on base and him and his dad swam for three hours straight then we got home and took Marcus Jr and his friend Anthony to the Kinston Indians game (our local minor league baseball team), the Indians lost, but the boys has a great time trying to catch foul balls.

Yesterday was a fun filled 4th of July. We spent the morning cutting the yard and cleaning the house. Marcus Jr rode his four wheeler for several hours while his dad cut the grass. Our neighbor Chris has a back yard bigger than ours with no fence and he let Marcus Jr come over and ride in his yard...what a treat! Later in the day we were invited to one of the local churches 4th of July picnic. The had big water slides for the kids, pony rides, and tractor rides through the corn fields. There was lots of food; snow cones, nachos, cotton candy and of course good old grilled burgers and dogs. Marcus was in kid heaven...he was wide open from 4:00 to 9:00. We finally got him into dry clothes just in time for fireworks. He must have lit 50 sparklers before the big show. The church put on a very nice firework display that was about 20 minutes of non stop fireworks.

We got home just in time to participate in the neighborhood fireworks. We all brought out our fireworks and the kids had a great time helping their dads light them. After we lit about $300 worth of fireworks for the neighborhood we invited our close friends to join us in the back yard for a bon fire and smores. Marcus Jr lasted all of 30 min before he was curled up in his lawn chair fast asleep. It was a busy fun filled day full of good food, fireworks, great friends, and celebrating our country's freedom.

Today the boys are at the beach again and mom is resting and recovering from the previous week. I have a bunch of pictures to upload, but the camera is in the truck at the beach so pictures are to come...
